Rules Booklet
Majority of information in this section was originally written by Metalakafable, Moltrecuno, and The Knight of Deckness. Don't Steal or Webmistress will nuke your house as well as doing many unpleasant methods of torture to you.
If you're new to this league, please read the rules carefully before asking any questions. If you do have a question, go Here. Oh and by the way, thanks for joining the league and I hope you enjoy yourself here. =)
Starting Out
1. Choose 6 Pokémon of Baby or Basic Stage Pokémon. All Pokémon from the Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, and Sapphire Versions are allowed to be used except the ones listed below: - Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi, Regice, Regirock, Registeel, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Latios, Latias, Deoxys, Jirachi, Unown
2. When you choose your six pokémon, you must post them at the Team Approval topic and await for their approval. You have the choice to make the pokémon you choose have signature moves. A signature move is a special move only your pokémon can use. When you make your signature move, you have to understand that you have to make limitations to it if it is too strong. A Team Approver can make suggestions in fixing your signature move if they see that it is too powerful or doesn’t make sense. You do not have to have a signature move on your pokémon but it may be useful in battles you have in the future.
Format
[Pokémon Nickname] Pokémon Name (Gender)
Signature Move: Name of Move (It is not required to have one so put none and skip the rest if you don’t want a Signature Move)
Description: (Try and make this as descriptive as possible without making it too long, we don't need a short story describing the move.)
Type: | Accuracy: (Accuracy can go no higher than 95%) | Damage: (Damage can go no higher than 25%) | Effects: (chances of status effect, action gap before next use etc)
3. When you start out, you will have $15 Pokédollars. This can be used in any way you wish. You must post this in the bank when starting out and any transactions afterwards are to be recorded there.
4. Current Moves that are banned: Hidden Power, Secret Power, Snatch, Skill Swap, Torment, and Imprison, until further notice, they are too difficult to work out.
5. Abilities are banned until further notice, but obviously certain natural abilities are allowed, such as a Magnemite hovering, etc. anything you would see a pokemon do in the anime pretty much works here.
Battles
1. Battles are arranged in this way....
- Number of Pokémon Used
- Disqualification (DQ) Time
- Damage caps (Basically stops OHKO's. A 25% damage cap means that the maximum damage can only be 25%, no matter what happens. However, you can opt for no damage caps, but it's your funeral).
- Who Sends Out First Pokémon*
- Who Makes First String of Commands (You are allowed to make 3 commands per round.
Combos do not count as one move. Also 2 action moves like Solar Beam, hyper beam and Dig etc only count as one action unless specified in the beginning of the match)*
- Arena To be used (Use any arena you want, but try to make it a fair battleground for both trainers)
*Trainers are to alternate in issuing commands in a battle to give both trainers equal advantages.
Ex:
Round 1: Trainer 1 Attacks First
Round 2: Trainer 1 Attacks Second
Round 3: Trainer 1 Attacks First
Etc.
Battles can be done in two ways, on the forum or by IM.
1. Forum Battles
One way for a battle to be done is the good old-fashioned way where two trainers agree to battle and a ref would interpret the battle commands into a round with the attack commands.
How to Arrange this type of battle: Just post in the Battle Dome asking an open challenge or to challenge a trainer. You can also find already issued challenges in the Challenge Archive. Once you find an opponent and have posted a reply in the Battle Dome, wait for a ref to agree to ref your battle. They'll post in the topic of course to see if they're allowed to ref. When the ref is found, the ref will create a topic with the names of both trainers. You can also get a ref by IMing or Private Messaging them. This will make it easier for everyone.
You can only have three Forum battles going at the one time.
If a Pokemon evolves during the course of the battle, you still have to use it's unevolved form because that is the state it was in at the start of the battle.
2. IM Battles
Basically two trainers do battle over IM with a ref in the chat room. the battles are nowhere near as extravegant as the forum battles but you can gain a bit of money quicker this way. the trainers message their attacks to the ref and the ref posts the results of the round in the chat room. The ref must keep a record of the battle, in case of any descrepancies. The results must be posted in the quick battle range by the ref afterwards. More info about this is in the Quick battle range topic. No more than two IM battles a day. A trainer must have defeated 6 Pokemoon to recieve the catch/evolve prize.
Prizes
1. When you win a battle, the winning trainer gets $6 multiplied by the number of pokémon the trainers used in the battle (Ex: 1 vs. 1 = 1 x 6 = $6 given to the trainer for winning)
2. The winner also has a choice to evolve a pokémon on their team or capture a pokémon of their choice.
3. The referee will get $4 multiplied by the number of pokémon used by each trainer (Ex: 2 vs. 2 would mean 2 x 4= $8)
4. The one who lost the battle receives nothing.
Bank, Businesses, Etc.
1. Any Pokédollar gained or lost must be posted in the ASB Bank. A record of your account will be kept there so don’t try to cheat.
2. Owning a Business in this ASB takes great responsibility. This is another source of income next to reffing and winning battles. Overheads may be made but since this ASB just got up to its feet, this will only be put into consideration for now so no worries.
Any other questions about Business can be taken up in the Business Center topic
3. Reffing is another fun thing to do in this ASB. Without refs, this place should’ve died before even starting by now. When you ref, you just interpret attacks in an interesting fashion as well as calculating health and status effects on the battling pokémon. Use your imagination but keep it within reason. This will be described in detail in the Reffing Queue topic.
4. Like the anime and the games, there are Gym Leaders and Elites. A topic will be created to have 8 Gym Leaders and 4 Elites. Each Gym Leader will have a badge and a TM to give if you beat them. Each Elite will have a Medallion and also a TM to give. If you win in this kind of battle, your winning money is doubled from the normal standard.
Currently, a topic has been made for Gym Leaders to be chosen. Read the Gym Leaders Tourney topic for more details.
If you beat a number of the Gym Leaders and/or Elites, you will automatically become a Gym Leader yourself. You have a better chance at being chosen to be an Elite if you beat both Elite and Gym Leader. This will go into detail in the Gym Leader and Elite Four Members Topic.
5. Suggestions and questions are more than welcome in this topic. This ASB is just getting up to its feet and it would be a great help to the moderators of this forum and the Webmaster if suggestions are received. In this ASB you would have more say in what happens in this place so don’t hesitate to speak up.
6. If you're in the middle of a battle or are reffing one and you're going away for longer than the DQ time, post it in the "I am away" topic, to save any problems.
